Reaching out for support with your deepest, most personal challenges isn’t easy. The fact that you’re here says a lot, as you’re already taking a meaningful step toward lasting change. Life can throw curveballs or leave you feeling stuck despite your best efforts, creating confusion and uncertainty about what comes next.
Therapeutic Focus: Trauma, Complex Trauma & Dissociation; Neurodiversity-Affirming Care (ADHD, Autism, Giftedness), Anxiety, Depression, High-Stress Occupations (i.e., first responders, veterans, medical doctors, etc).
Dr. Matthew Fleischmann, C.Psych.
Inclusive & Collaborative Care
I welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds, including diverse genders, sexual orientations, cultures, abilities, and relationship configurations. I have a particular focus on supporting those impacted by trauma, including extensive experience working with public safety personnel. I also work with individuals from chaotic, abusive, or neglectful homes, and those seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and how they move through the world.
Areas of Expertise
With over 10 years of experience supporting adults from diverse backgrounds (including first responders, military veterans, university students, and teachers), I’ve worked with concerns such as trauma exposure, relationship struggles, perfectionism, and low self-worth. I collaborate with you to navigate whatever you’re facing, so you can move toward a richer, more fulfilling life. In therapy, I primarily draw from a relational psychodynamic approach, creating space to explore and process your experiences as they unfold in the moment.
What to Expect on Your Therapeutic Journey
In our first few sessions, we’ll work together to clarify what feels most pressing or important right now. I’ll complete a thorough assessment so we can clearly identify where to focus, while also getting to know each other. From there, we move at your pace, no rushing. You guide the direction, depth, and timing of our work. My role is to listen carefully, understand your experience, and thoughtfully challenge you to explore it more deeply.

I earned my PhD in Counselling Psychology from McGill University in 2025. I completed my doctoral internship at the University of North Dakota in their university counselling centre. I also hold a MA in Forensic Psychology from Roger Williams University, a BA in psychology from Dalhousie University, and an honors equivalence certificate in psychology from Saint Mary’s University. I completed my basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
