Beginning therapy is often not a straightforward decision. It may happen at a point where something in your life no longer feels sustainable, even if it is difficult to articulate or understand why. You may have a sense that something is not quite working for you, experience emotions that are difficult to access, regulate or even make sense of, a sense of internal conflict, or notice patterns that continue to repeat despite your best efforts to change them. At times, this can create a feeling of being “stuck.” Therapy offers a space to explore and better understand these experiences in depth – at your own pace, and in a way that allows for reflection and meaningful, lasting change. My aim is to provide a safe, warm and collaborative environment in which we can not only address the challenges you are facing, but also work toward achieving your goals together via a deeper understanding of yourself and your goals.

Therapeutic Focus: Trauma, Adjustment to Life Transitions, Personality Patterns (including Avoidant Behavior), Attachment & Relationship Problems, Identity Exploration, Neurodiversity-Affirming Care (ADHD, Autism, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder), LGBTQIA2S+ Affirming Care, Culturally Sensitive/Multicultural and Multilingual Therapy, Anxiety & Depression, Anger & Impulsivity, Emotional Regulation, Personality Disorders, Psychological Adjustment to Illness, Disability and Health-Related Challenges, Grief, Low Self-Esteem, Self-Criticism, Burnout & High-Responsibility Roles.

Personalized and Compassionate Depth-Oriented Care

I primarily work with adults and older adolescents who are interested in a more in-depth therapeutic process. My clients come from all walks of life, including different sexual orientations, gender identities, races, ethnicities and cultures.

I have experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those navigating cross-cultural transitions, and am proud to be able to offer therapy in English, German and Spanish to make treatment more accessible, open and culturally-sensitive.

Approach & Areas of Expertise

My approach is psychodynamic in nature, drawing from both classical and contemporary perspectives to help my clients develop greater insight into their emotional experience, internal conflicts and relational patterns while also helping clients regulate their emotions via evidence-based techniques. In addition to developing insight, I place a strong emphasis on working directly with emotional experience as it unfolds in the moment. Treatment is always tailored to the individual based on each client’s strengths and needs.

Many of the individuals I see are thoughtful and reflective but continue to encounter recurring difficulties in how they relate to themselves and others. They, thus, seek to better understand themselves, their emotions and behaviors and how those may both impact and be impacted by others. This may include experiences such as persistent self-criticism, low self-esteem, burnout, identity confusion or crises, work-related stress, challenges in relationships, difficult life transitions, or a sense of internal pressure or anxiety that is difficult to sustain over time.

I also have experience working with individuals navigating neurodivergence, including autism, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVLD) as well as those adjusting to illness, disability, and other significant health-related challenges. These experiences often intersect with identity, relationships, and emotional life, and are approached with care and respect for each individual’s unique context.

What to Expect on Your Therapeutic Journey

In our initial sessions, we will work collaboratively to clarify your concerns, goals, and expectations for therapy. This includes a thoughtful exploration of your current difficulties, personal history, important relationships and strengths.

After the intake process, as therapy progresses, you are free to speak about what feels most important to you at a pace that feels manageable. My role is to listen carefully, offer observations and facilitate ongoing reflection so that we can better understand and address the patterns and processes contributing to your current difficulties.

Education & Clinical Training

I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University as well as a MSc in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University and a BA in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Behavioural Science from McGill University.

I am a licensed psychologist in New York and currently registered for Interim Autonomous Practice with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

I completed my pre-doctoral internship at The Max and Celia Parnes Family Psychological and Psychoeducational Services Clinic at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in New York, where I worked with adults and adolescents across a wide range of concerns. I also provided therapeutic services at The Lemle Clinic for Non-Verbal Learning Disorders (NVLD), the BOLD Cancer Wellness Program at the Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center, and Jacobi Medical Center’s LGBTQIA2S+ Pride Clinic (NYC Health + Hospitals).

During my post-doctoral fellowship, I continued to provide assessment and therapeutic services at The Max and Celia Parnes Family Psychological and Psychoeducational Services Clinic at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, the Lemle Clinic for Non-Verbal Learning Disorder and the BOLD Cancer Wellness program but further provided individual and couples psychotherapy to adults at Dr. Inzinna Psychological Services in New York, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and presenting concerns.

My doctoral research examined the efficacy and effectiveness of individual psychodynamic psychotherapy with adults in comparison to other empirically-supported psychotherapy models, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Furthermore, earlier in my career, I also worked with children and adolescents with autism, giving me further insight into neurodivergence.

Supervision, Teaching & Mentorship

I have experience supervising doctoral-level psychology students as well as physician assistant students, and previously taught a course in Supervision and Consultation for advanced PsyD students at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in New York. I remain actively engaged in the supervision and development of clinicians at various stages of training.

Professional Affiliations

I am a member of both the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ontario Psychological Association as well as the American Psychological Association and Division 39 (Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology).
